It must have been back in 2003, therein the course of my research on other plane crashes in L.A., San Diego, Portland and Chicago that took place all the 1970's for "1979"upon which "1979" / 1979westbrook.com and of course 1979Posters.Com is based, that I came came by a cross reference to the 1958 Norwalk mid air between Navy Neptune Bomber and the C-118 Military Transport.

Once I started reading the old newspaper accounts on the '58 Norwalk mid air I recalled what scant, little bits of information that I had heard about the Norwalk air disaster from time to time as a kid in Covina therefrom newpaper front page spreads and articles on the crash from microfilm reels of the L.A. newspapers at the UCLA Research Library, as well as back issues of the February '58 'Norwalk Call' newspaper at the L.A. County-Culver City branch library, I recalled that I once knew someone who must have been there when it happened and no doubt participated therein the numerous fire and rescue operations that took place in the minutes and hours after the Norwalk mid air back on February 1, 1958

This person was none other than my Police Science course Instructor thereat Citrus College in Glendora, Detective-Sergeant Alden 'Al' Ostman, whose class I attended without fail twice a week from January 5th through May 25th 1971, minus the month total that I spent in Covina Jail, L.A. County Jail and Biscailuz Center from March 12th through April 13th.

I thought that I had talked my way back into Ostman's class on April 15th 1971, little did I know that my return to the Police Science Class and the field trip we took that day was a carefully contrived scam to 'frame' me as a 'snitch' or an undercover cop with my former fellow inmate-trustees of two days before.

As we usually went on field trips, it was during one of our not to common class sessions of the 'Introduction to Public Service Class' at Citrus College that Ostman informed my classmates and I that prior to becoming an L.A. Sheriff's Deputy hat he was first an L.A. County Fireman who was assigned to the L.A. County Fire Station in Norwalk in 1957 and 1958.

I remember the years as my widowed mother brought my and sisters I from Nashville to L.A. County in the summer of 1957, first to Azusa for a month or two and then to the house in Covina where I grew up at from 1957 until February 1971 when I moved out. Dodgers baseball team came to L.A. in 1958 a fact that all the kids in the neighborhood impressed upon me at the time.

On the last day of my 'Introduction To Public Service' class, Tuesday May 25th, 1971, Detective-Sergeant Ostman was sitting at his desk and seemed to act out of character, he seemed a bit curt as he announced that the class was to end suddenly that day just before the Memorial Day Weekend much to my surprise as the class schedule indicated that the class would end on Tuesday June 2nd about a week graduation at and ceremonies at Gladstone High.

Ostman was acting cool, cagey and a trifle nervous about having me around as I was pretty sharp since I got off of barbituates, I was in and out of Ostman's classroom in less than three minutes on May 25th and that was only because he was signing off another student in class that day. This was only three days before the 'disappearance' of War Hero Audie Murphys plane on May 28th 1971, purportedly in Virginia.

The June 6th 'D Day' mid air between the Marine Phantom Jet and the Air West DC-9 overthe Bradbury Hills near my then home in Azusa took place a little over a week later just before my high school graduation.

Click on the links below to read about my past associations with Ostman in Glendora, California in the Spring 1971 and later not so pleasant run ins with Ostman in Portland on March 22nd and March 30th 1979.

Below is a photo and the section 'blow up' of the same photo, thereof one of the planes involved in the reported mid air collision over Norwalk on February 1st 1958. This is from a book on the history of Norwalk printed sometime after 1972. The photos shows the reported crashsite and wreckage of the Navy Neptune P-2V patrol bomber shortly after it's reported mid air with the 'MATS' Air Force C-118 military transport over Norwalk and allegedly distributed crash debrie over a five mile area.

Before proceeding on I feel that I should mention that fuselage and other crash debrie from the 'MATS' Air Force C-118 military transport involved in the February '58 mid air over Norwalk reportedly fell there on the garage stalls for the patrol units at the L.A. Sheriff's Norwalk Station and a service station across the street thereat the intersection of Pioneer and Firestone Blvds. in Norwalk.

I should point out that it was also reported that there was a power outage at that took place at the same time the 'MATS' Air Force C-118 military transport crashed into the Sheriff's Station and the Service Station plunging the whole area into near total darkness. The power outage was ostensibly caused by the C-118 fuselage and crash debrie knocking out the power lines.

As for the other plane involved in the February '58 midair over Norwalk, the Navy Neptune P-2V patrol bomber, the February 2nd 1958 L.A. Times front page article above reports that the 'Scene of [the] Crash' of Neptune patrol bomber as a:

'...saucer like depression of earth across from the [L.A.] County Fire Station on Norwalk Blvd. just south of Santa Fe Springs.'

This February '58 Times article is deliberately vague for a number of reasons that we'll go into later, except to say that the 'across' cited here
doesn't
say across the street as a quick read of the article could be easily misconstrued to give the reader such a false impression. The fact is that the: "...across from the [L.A.] County Fire Station on Norwalk Blvd..." that was actually located in Santa Fe Springs, was just under a mile away from the Neptune bomber's crashsite, located in a waste dump on Los Nietos Road in Santa Fe Springs

The apparent sensitivity of this fact explains the motive as to why this February '58 L.A. Times article also fails to mention any kind of street names, street address, block number or cross streets are given to specify the actual location of the Neptune P-2V bomber wreckage fell to the earth in Santa Fe Springs, California. Readers of the L.A. Times would no doubt find it very strange if not highly suspect as to how the fuselage of Navy Neptune P-2V patrol bomber in a purported mid air over Norwalk just happened to land 'right smack dab' in the middle
of oil and chemical waste dump closed to the public, as opposed to some more public place like a city street, a vacant lot, a housing tract of some apartments in Santa Fe Springs.

Although I don't have a street address for the chemical waste dumpsite where the wreckage of Navy P-2V Neptune bomber was found thereon the night of February 1st 1958, I can state that was located on Los Nietos Road in Santa Fe Springs from which the tanker trucks carrying their toxic loads would access it through a gate, provided that they had authorization to do so.

In 1958 the waste site on Los Nietos Road was boredered on it's southeast side by Greenleaf Ave., Romandel Ave. on it's northwest perimeter. St. Paul Catholic High School runs along the entire north east border of the oil and chemical wastedump. St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs was founded in 1956, less than 2 years before the February '58 mid air plane crash over Norwalk.

Back In February 1958 the Los Nietos Road dump had an attendant who lived there in small house onsite with his wife, and a daughter who had health problems. The attendant was a kind of gate keeper there, and his job was to make sure only authorized shipments of toxic chemicals and oil byproducts could be deposited there. The map and text below describes the creation of the waste dump in the 1920's and it's subsequent designation thereas 'Super Fund' hazardous waste clean up site.

"The property's not big; 38 acres on the east side of Santa Fe Springs. But in the early 1920's, demand for the Waste Disposal company's was big in the area. Oil boomed then, replacing groves of trees with forests of oil derricks. By 1929, Santa Fe Springs oil field was the state's largest producer of petroleum products. Producing oil created waste byproducts; site operators built a sunken concrete reservoir six hundred feet across and 25 feet deep to hold 42 million gallons of oil mud, crud and other nastiness."   http://www.scpr.org/blogs/environment/2011/09/19/3464/superfund-site-week-santa-fe-springs-waste-disposa/

What are the odds of one aircraft from the February '58 mid air collision over Norwalk. the Neptune Bomber should crash into a dumpsite Santa Fe Springs and the other airplane the MATS Air Force C-118 should crash into the garages and parking lot of the L.A. Sheriff's Station in Norwalk ?

I would put the odds at about a million to one, and suspect that an insurance actuary would place the odds at about the same number if not more.

In the first image above (left) one can see the crashsite set in a ravine like setting about 15 to 20 feet below the ground level of the surrounding area which is of all places located at trash dump in Santa Fe Springs. The wreckage looks to be in surprisingly good condition though the nose of the plane and one of the wings seems to be missing.

Although the wreckage of the Neptune bomber was painted a dark color, most likely a dark blue or possibly charcoal grey, one can clearly
see that there are no traces of fire or smoke damage, nor is there a evidence of a collision from the twin engine prop Neptune bomber that purportedly collided with the larger four engine Air Force C-118 that was also propeller driven. Just why is that ?

Now shifting to the section 'blow up' of the same photo to the right, near the lower right corner one can see what looks like a motorcycle cop, most likely California Highway Patrol next to a guy dressed in light colored attire, possibly overalls. The stance of the motorcycle cop with his back to the camera is particularly interesting because his left leg and knee are bent because it is resting on what is clearly a berm like ridge of dirt consisting of what looks like 14 yards or more of earth landscaped along most of the rear edge of the plane's wing.

This bit of landscaping along the wing of the Neptune aircraft at the reported crashsite appears to be totally inconsistent with a speeding twin engine patrol bomber slamming into the ground. Upon closer inspection one can clearly see that it looks as thought the berm consisting of about 15 tons or more of dirt was shoved there into place after the Neptune bomber was placed there.

The motorcycle cop is clearly illustrating this point by the placement of his left leg and foot upon the berm like ridge of dirt as the press photgrapher took a photo of him from his raised vantage point. Others besides the motocycle cop and the photographer could plainly see that this supposed crash site, wasn't the result of a plane crash, it was more like something from the movie set of a war movie with downed aircraft as some of the props.

As it doesn't like the plane came in for a crash landing in such tight little depression in the ground, one would have to assume that the the Navy Neptune Patrol bomber fell out of the sky straight down and landed in such a precise fashion that tons of earth form a ridge along the edge of the wing section which appears to be in relatively good condition appears to be flipped over so that the bottom of the wing now is now facing upwards.

What are the odds the plane would have landed in the middle of trash dump with tons of dirt shoved in place and follow the edge of the Neptune bomber's wing. The earth work along the edge of the wing does not appear to have been created by the crash of the twin engine Navy Neptune bomber that purportedly crashed into the ground in the waste dump across from the County Fire Station.

The wreckage of the Navy P-2V looks more like it was driven there on one or possibly more a large trucks and then a bulldozer, perhaps the one that was already in use at the dumpsite was used to create the ridge like berm of dirt along the edge of the Neptune bomber's wing.

In the original uncropped photo (left) one of the engines and what looks like pieces of the cowling from the left wing are in plain view. As for the other wing and it's engine and propeller do not appear in this crashsite photo.

The photo below is a daytime picture is shot of the tail section of the Navy P-2V Neptune bomber taken from the base level elevation of the dumpsite which looks like it's about 25 feet or more below the ground elevation surrounding the waste dump.

Note the absence of any traces of smoke or fire damage on the wreckage of the Neptune Bomber above. If there was actually a midair coilision over Norwalk then there would plenty of it. That being the case I can only conclude that the fuselage and other parts from the
Neptune bomber free of any traces of smoke and fire damage, where placed therein the secluded and secured section of the waste dump like props in an on location film production.

The night photo (below left) looks like a 'shot' of the Navy Neptune P-2V taken from ground level above looking down in the pit.
Below right, this night photo appears to be one of the crashsite at the L.A. Sheriff's Norwalk Station at Pioneer and Firestone Blvds. where the MATS Air Force C-118 reportedly fell out of the sky after it's mid air collision with the Navy Neptune P-2V bomber on February 1st 1958.

In the second row down, these two photos below shows the purported wreckage of the four engine MATS Air Force C-118 from the mid air collision over the newly incorpoated town of Norwalk, California on February 1st 1958. The grainy black and white photo on the left from the February 2nd 1958 L.A. Times, shows the wreckage from the MATS C-118 where it landed there at gasoline-service station across the street from what was then also the location of the L.A. Sheriff's Norwalk Station.

This Times photo is part of an article captioned 'Man Struck By Wreckage' 'Filling Station Worker Knocked 20 to 20 Feet by Tail Section'
I find the station attendant's version of events less than convincing as for one thing he wasn't sure if he was knocked 20 feet or thiry feet.

I would argue that the attendant, Raul Enlow must have known where he was standing when he was supposedly hit by plane crash parts and debrie, and that he must have known where he was when he got up totally unscathed, whereas it was gas station after all and the sites was not to terribly large, with plenty of items and structures, such as tire racks, gas pumps, lube racks and signage there to more accurately gauge how far attendant Enlow was thrown as the distances between all these things, would be easy to estimate visually and or by simply pacing of the distance.

Enlow worked there on regular basis day and day out but couldn't tell were he was when he was supposedly hit but uninjured somehow from the falling tail section of the Air Force C-118, the military version of a four engine civillian DC-6 airliner. This sounds phony too.

In the sepia photo of Enlow's station to the right of the Times photo, it shows what appears to be a section of the fuselage from the MATS Air Force C-118 along with some of the metal support structure from the large and expansive, high raised awnings that cover the area where the gas pumps are located. Again there is no trace of smoke of fire damage from the MATS C-118 mid air with the Navy Neptune
bomber.

Scroll down to view more photos and read the L.A. Times newspaper capitions and accounts of the February '58 Norwalk mid air, as well as my observations and conclusions regarding the inconsistencies and implausibilities I have found in them.

The caption to the L.A. Times photo directly above (left) describes how L.A. County Firemen were 'battling gasoline fires' after the MATS Air Force C-118's reported mid air over Norwalk with the Navy Neptune bomber which then sent the C-118:

'plummeting on [to te] parking lot of the Sheriff's statn...silhouetted in darkness.'

To the right is a another photo of the L.A. Sgeriff's Norwalk Station's parking lot fire with two police motorcycles front and center, a light colored coupe left and a Sheriff's patrol car left. The three photos on the right scrolling up from the fire photo shows another view of the MATS C-118 tail wreckage at the gas station across the street from the Sheriff's Station. Again the absence of any traces of smoke or fire
on the tail section of the MATS C-118.

The third sepia photo up from the bottom right, shows a Sheriff's Deputy looking over at the back of a guy in a suit with his back to the camera as the 'suit' looks on as personnel sort through the fire damage. In the background one can see what looks like a soldier of sorts also facing right. I am assuming that this photo shows the crematorium like crash site at the Norwalk crash as workers pull out bodies.\

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this photo but I somehow get the impression that the Sheriff's Deputy is looking on at the guy in the suit in a curious manner, that might be interpreted as slightly accusatory. It's like the Deputy is studying the face of the guy in the suit that the Deputy doesn't know and that he might have some strong reasons for doing so.

One reason might be that if the reported mid air over Norwalk in February 1958, between a MATS C-118 four engine passenger transport and a Navy Neptune patrol bomber was a phony event that never actually took place, then it means that the charred bodies reportedly pulled out of the airplanr wreckage at the Norwalk L.A. Sheriff's Station must have been delivered sometime prior to the power black out that plunged the Sheriff's Station into near total darkness, seconds or very possibly minutes before the fuselage of the MATS C-118 plunged from the night sky, followed by explosions and flames in the darkness and alarming confusion.

The fouth sepia photo up from the bottom right shows two emegency workers carrying out what looks like a corpse on a stretcher.
I'd say that the expressions on both their faces look more like fear and terror as opposed to a look of weary sadness over fire crisped bodies
pulled from the wreckage.

The photos above are from the 'crashsite' of United 737 DC-9 Flight 553 crash near Midway Airport on December 8th 1972. These two photos were presumably taken the day after the United jetliner crash on December 9th, the first from a rooftop across the street and the other most likely from a helicopter.

In the photo of the crashsite on the right shows how small an area of damage to the wood frame houses on the ground. It appears that three houses were destroyed on the side of the street where the tail section of the United DC-9 is and two other houses across the street.

When I saw these crash photos and others like it in the newspapers and magazines back in December 1972, I found it hard to believe that a plane crash ever took there in that Southside Chicago neighborhood near Midway Airport. -- This was because the 'foot print' of the United Airlines 737 jetliner is just way too small.

If a Boeing 737 jetliner actually crashed there, even at a stall speed, it would have cut a much larger and longer swath through that working class neighborhood of small wood frame houses. -- The numerous reports of FBI agents, and other plain clothes types that had swarmed the
Southside neighborhood in the hours priot to the crash of the United 737 was perhaps for me the icing on the cake of this apparently staged crash scene.

I was also suspected that this was the very same modus operandi used in the so called mid-air between the Air West DC-9 and the Marine Corp Phantom fighter jet, then only the year before in June 1971, purportedly over a wilderness area only 8 miles from then home in Azusa, California. -- I didn't dare say anything about it what with the bizarre nose dive crash of the Western Airlines 720 at Ontario Airport, only 40 miles away from L.A. and Biscailuz Center where one of my inmate-trustee friends there was a purser for Western Airlines and another a CIA agent, or so I would surmise.

During the winter of 1978, I guess I was like: "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" or rather out of the sleet and freezing rain there in a van in a parking lot in Hillsboro, Oregon. -- I decided to take up the offer to rent a room at the house on NE 57th and Siskiyou in Portland, that was leased by two FBI informants who were unleashed on me again within only 6 hours or so after my return to Portland from Yreka on September 4, 1978.

It was December 24th Christmas Eve 1978 when I left my digs in Hillsboro and moved into the house on 57th and it was only 4 days later and 5 miles away that the so called United Airlines DC-8 crash took place in Portland. -- I was still reeling from the front page newspaper and magazine photos of the flaming PSA Airlines 727 plunging from the skies over San Diego on September 25, 1978. The crashsite photos were just as bad. Unlike the other phony crashsites in then recent years, the PSA crash in San Diego was the real deal.

I glanced at a few photos of the December '78 United DC-8 crash from the newspapers from most of the West Coast cities, then sold in the Portland newsracks and I knew that this crash was a phony and an even more obvious one as well.

For one thing the single mom and her kids reportedly living in the house where the DC-8 crash hit, were episodically moved out just before the crash, but so called crashsite photos said it all 'in Spades' and then some.

In the aerial photo above one can easily see that a fuselage was and tail section apparently trucked in on flat beds in sections and then stuck in between some tall firs that surrounded the single mom's house. If a DC-8 airliner had actually crashed there wouldn't the wings with two jet turbines each have cut down the trees as it crashed ? This was reportedly the same kind of 'scam' used in the bogus jetliner crash at the Pentagon during the September 2001 '9-11' attacks.

Note how the front of the fuselage obscured by trees and how it so neatly stayed inside the rear boundry of the house. The tail section is also conveniently adjacent to the street for easier off loading from flatbed trucks.

Where is the wreckage of the wings and turbines and why aren't they visible in this aerial photo below? Did the wings and turbines simply fly away before the crash ?

I didn't dare comment about the crash, as my FBI informant girlfriend Kendra quizzed me about it the day after the crash, as she was leaving for New York City to spend New Years with her Drama Class or so she told me. -- It was scary the way the Feds had coached her, and I got the impression that she was trying to 'sift' me to see who I might have known that had reportedly died in the plane crash, that was really a hoax, albeit a deadly for those that boarded the real flight in New York and made that fatal stopover in Denver, before proceeding on to Portland.

In the December 1978 United DC-8 jetliner crashes into a wooded lot with a house on it in Portland, Oregon and dosen't even singe, bend or break the branches Douglas Fir trees surrounding it.

On September 11, 2001 jetliners crash into the World Trade Center towers and they crumble into ruin supposedly from the jet fuel on board, when in fact the two Trade Center towers were specially rigged by demolition experts with a then recently developed form of thermite.

The timing of the so called Norwalk mid-air crash on February 1, 1958 was perfectly timed to take place on the same day the United States
launched it's first satellite into space thanks to the expertise of Nazi rocket scientist Werner von Braun and his fellow German war criminals
then employed by the U.S. Government.

This was cleverly arranged cover that provided a phony pretext for so called 'witnesses' to the Norwalk mid-air to falsely claim that they actually witnessed the collision between the MATS military air transport and the Navy Neptune patrol plane over the skies of Los Angeles
whilst looking up at the night skies in search of the 'Explorer' satellite therein it's new found orbit in space.

The 'Explorer' launch was a real public relations coup' for Nazi Rocket Scientist-War Criminals like von Braun, as well as all those so called anti-communist Nazis that were by 1958, key players in U.S. military and intelligence, as was the case with the Soviets, British and French governments as well.

Below are excerpts from the: 'The Torbitt Document'.

The killing of President Kennedy was planned and supervised by Division Frye of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a relatively small department within the FBI whose usual duties are espionage and counter-espionageactivities.

Actually, Division Five acted dually with the Defense Intelligence Agency which was acting on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the
Pentagon. Directly under the two-pronged leadership of Division Five and the DIA was the control group, their highly secret police agency: the Defense Industrial Security Command (Defense Industrial Security Command).

The Defense Industrial Security Command has always been kept secret because it acts, in addition with its two official control organizations, on behalf of NASA, the Atomic Energy Commission, U.S. Information Agency and the arms, equipment, ammunition, munitions and related miscellaneous supply manufacturing corporations, contracting with NASA, the AEC, USIA, and the Pentagon.

One can readily observe the Defense Industrial Security Command is not compatible with an open democracy and the U.S. Constitution. Consequently, the top secret arms manufacturers' police agency has been kept from the knowledge of even most U.S. officials and congressmen.

Permindex, was used to head five front organizations responsible for furnishing personnel and supervisors to carry out assigned
duties.

Permindex, also referred to as Permanent Industrial Exposition or Permanent Industrial Expositions, was a trade organization headquartered in Basel, Switzerland.[1][2][3] Allegations that Permindex was a front organization for the Central Intelligence Agency have been advanced by advocates of some John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories.[4]--- Source Wikipedia -- Note the chickenshit phrase: 'assassination conspiracy theories'.

The five groups under Permindex and their supervisors were:

1. The Czarist Russian, Eastern European and Middle East exile organization called SOLIDARISTS, headed by Ferenc Nagy, ex-Hungarian Premier, and John DeMenil, Russian exile from Houston, Texas, a close friend and supporter of Lyndon Johnson for over thirty years.

2. A section of the AMERICAN COUNCIL OF CHRISTIAN CHURCHES headed by H.L. Hunt of Dallas, Texas.

3. A Cuban exile group called FREE CUBA COMMITTEE headed by Carlos Prio Socarras, ex-Cuban President.

4. An organization of United States, Caribbean, and Havana, Cuba gamblers called the Syndicate headed by Clifford Jones, ex-Lieutenant Governor of Nevada and Democratic National Committeeman, and Bobby Baker of Washington, D.C. This group worked closely with a Mafia family headed by Joe Bonnano.

5. The SECURITY DIVISION of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) headed by Wernher Von Braun, head of the German Nazi rocket program from 1932 through 1945. Headquarters for this group was the DEFENSE INDUSTRIAL SECURITY COMMAND at Muscle Shoals Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and on East Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio.
